We bring together researchers, analysts and educators from the military, government, academia and industry

Virgo Riispapp,  Chief Technology Officer at Thorgate Management OÜ

Not many companies are thinking through their data security measures. International companies usually have risk management boards but dealing with the cyber security side is still kind of blind area. Totally new domain for companies to cover, there are several issues behind it.

If you look at the valuation and turnover of the companies then more than a year data companies- Google, Microsoft, Facebook, etc are earning more than oil companies. Data is new oil. If you look at the news then constantly you can see the stream that one or another company had data breach and they lost 10M to 200M customer data.

Then, if we look EU legislation, there is GDPR in place and the fines are quite though – 20MEUR or 4% of the company turnover. So on frontline we there are mostly bigger companies data and international companies might have quite a lot of vectors hackers can use to get the data. As there are several threats then some actions are needed to be done to mitigate them.

Every participant can point out one or many threats they see, together we will think about the mitigation actions and then have a plan how to tackle those - direct benefit for every participant.
