DECC council member Marianne Bruhn (founder of Heategevusfond Minu Unistuste Päev) had the honor to meet Crown Princess Mary during her visit to Estonia. Minu Unistuste Päev who fulfill dreams of ill children in Estonia had originally invited Mary for a tea party with little princess fans at Tallinn Children’s Hospital. But instead Mary granted Minu Unistuste Päev a few private minutes to tell her more about the activities of the charity foundation.

“To be honest, I did not know I was going to meet Mary before I arrived at the reception in mustpeade maja. When I was told she would see me, I instantly felt a bit hot  and asking my self questions like “what is the correct form of addressing a crown princess?” “do I look ok?” and  I started practicing my 2 minutes elevator speech. I was happy to learn that Mary was quite down to earth and that the Crown Princess took a genuine interest in our work. We even had time to discuss the similarities between ill children nominated for individual dream days and the children Mary Fonden is trying to help with their anti-bullying initiative. Not seldom do we experience that our ill children feel marginalized, isolated, even bullied by their class mates because they look or act different, have lesser financial means. The fact that our foundation was granted a meeting with the Crown Princess Mary is a great validation of the importance of our work for ill children in Estonia”, says a proud Marianne Bruhn.
